Block XX could be due a complete re assessment with our discovery at Gazelle ! Could H2 be better than we thought ?

I have to question why did we get it so wrong with Gazelle , drilled in 2019 and left until this month and now it's a gusher 5 plus years

However, the absence of sands in the Lower Tsagaantsav and the presence of a thin, but good quality pay zone in the Upper Tsagaantsav reservoir support the case for potentially significantly sized stratigraphic traps at the southern end of the Tamsag Basin within Block XX. This will be a focus of the post-well evaluation which will commence shortly, once the testing operations on Heron-1 are complete."

it's now a possibility that we have significantly sized traps

Gazelle-1 sits to the west of Heron-1 in a region on trend with existing Block XIX production, targeting 13mmbbls

Gazelle-1 sits updip of T19-46-1 on the western flank of the Tamsag Basin and is on trend with the best producing wells in Block XIX. Reservoir quality has been observed to improve westwards in Block XIX, and should therefore be favourable for Gazelle-1.

The well is targeting mean prospective recoverable resources of 13mmbbls. However, this is based on the structural trap and there is potential for further upside in the stratigraphically trapped part of the accumulation.

Will we also get a resource upgrade re Gazelle ?

Gazelle estimate :

The Gazelle prospect is located 5km to the west of the Heron discovery. Prior to drilling this

well management had estimated that P50 prospective recoverable resources were 12

mmbbl. On drilling the well the main deeper thick sand proved to be water wet. However,

two thin upper sands contained 3 metres of oil pay in good quality sandstones. Slightly

disappointingly, the onset of cold weather prevented testing operations to be done.

Although this is unlikely to be commercial, management hope that up dip of this well the

thicker sands could be in the oil zone and hence could contain commercial quantities of oil.

A Gazelle appraisal well is one of the wells that might be contemplated in any further

drilling programme

1.7 billion soft loan from india and potentially adding 10% of Mongolia's GDP to the coffers ....no longer reliant on Russia / China , Oil piepline nearly finished and ready for use potentially filling up storage tanks and in the meantime PM producing and Mongolia shortly to see revenue ... It will not fail it cannot fail PM must be under immense pressure for a detailed plan on how we are going to feed the Refinery hence Farm Out

An Indian-backed oil refinery in Mongolia is expected to begin operations in 2028, India's foreign ministry said on Tuesday, adding that the Mongolian authorities also want Indian firms to explore for oil and gas in the country.

The announcement was made during Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa's visit to India. Mongolia's first oil refinery is being built with a $1.7 billion Indian line of credit and will have the capacity to process 1.5 million metric tons of crude oil annually, or 30,000 barrels per day.
