Hello All
I registered here years ago but rarely posted as interactive investor was my main home, but since the laughable 'upgrade' there I abandoned ship and I've since been lurking here instead. Still getting used to the characters here - don't recognise anyone from ii - but it looks like a good community.
Regarding VOD, I bought in several years ago for the dividends but sold at a profit when the numbers started going red in my spreadsheet. Since then VOD has been firmly on my watchlist with a view to buy back somewhere in the region of 140 to 160. You only have to look at a long term chart to find that level. I made several posts on ii a while back (same username) when the SP was a lot higher than it is now but was effectively ridiculed by long term investors. I see similar things happening here. If there's one thing I've learnt over the years, it is to keep an open mind. Rampers and de-rampers exist, clearly, but on the whole I think most people are fairly straightforward and say it like it is from their point of view...
I agree with many here, including LastCall and moniman - I think the VOD sp will fall further, the dividend will most likely be cut by the new CEO along with a kitchen sink job, and with Brexit I think there will be a heck of a lot of volatility (read: carp hitting the fan) before things settle down (and they will, inevitably).
Good luck all (we all need some of that).
Bill
Online doing well to the detriment of bricks and mortar stores but thankfully the former outweighs the latter.
" Stay positive " Given how long we're having to wait I'm just trying to focus on staying alive.
Hi, thanks. It was a stupid question really - I should have checked the published timetable... 19th March - Record date (ex-rights). 21st March - Despatch of Provisional Allotment Letters (to Qualifying non-CREST Shareholders only). So in nominee accounts we should see the ex-rights share allocation by 21st March.
Has anyone seen any rights issue shares in their account yet? I haven't - hence the question.
There are also two unfilled gaps on the chart. The first is at 1742 and the second at 2856.
I'd be expecting the opposite - massive volatility with an initial mad scramble to sell before the results are gradually digested and (perhaps) a realisation that things aren't quite as bad as everyone thought. Then with the uncertainty removed and if a clear strategy for the future is put across things settle down and a new base is established. Where that base will be I have no idea. I think it really depends on how they 'sell' the results.
Mine are held in an ISA. In fact, I've just bought another tranche a couple of minutes ago.
FWIW I think the RNS is quite positive. Progress is ongoing, new appointments, etc. I bought in at 650.xx and plan to hold long term. I'm under no illusions about the posibility of the sp falling below my initial purchase price. If it falls below 500 then I'll buy another chunk. Either way, I think the long term viability of this business is sound.
Check out the RNS. 62 million shares about to hit the market. Possibly the last opportunity to BTD?
Fair point, well made. ...Looked like a flag to me ;-)
Looks like a bull flag on the daily.
"As for human factors, pilots can fly 900 hours a year. Rya pilots fly on average 840 odd hours." Joebop, Human Factors in aviation is about optimising human behaviour and performance in order to maximise safety. Peripheral vocational worries and financial stress (for example) have been shown to affect behaviour and performance, especially in technical, high-workload, safety critical environments such as aircraft cockpits. The lessons have been learned from many years of analysing factors involved in aircraft accidents.
Has anyone else read this: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/oct/03/ryanair-pilots-hmrc-investigation-airlines-uk ? No wonder RYA pilots want changes to their employment terms. Now let's pretend I'm a Ryanair pilot, stressed out of my tree by a HMRC investigation and worried I might be hit by a large tax demand at any moment that might result in me having to sell my house. The Mrs is worried sick and my 'employer' is the one that got me into this mess. Who wants to come on a flight with me? Human Factors anyone?
