Sepura handsets are 60% of their market. They want this company to stay independent or taken over by somebody else. Not Motorola obviously and Hytera's ultimate strategy is not known, so they would rather Hytera go away Its a risky game though

Hytera will honour their inherited contracts for sure, but I doubt it says anywhere that they have to supply Sepura handsets in perpetuity As for buying their competition to bury it, that's what they will do. But according to the consensus, it was already dying. They can say "look you got a life extension" to their customers. You should be so grateful FiXXer you must be an engineer :)

Tata Motors has a European Technical Centre (separate from JLR) employing about 350 engineers. SIAC (which took over Nanjing which took over Rover Cars) employs around 300 engineers at its MG technical centre in Longbridge making MG model cars. I have little idea about PMR / DMR / TETRA but since TETRA is a standard, its clearly becoming a commodity product. Cost control is going to be pretty crucial Sepura is dead. They will manufacture a number of Sepura handsets for field replacement and that's it. It would be a foolish customer that bought any Sepura handsets even as a month ago. That's why this recent order is so strange .

I think the only staff member from Sepura Hytera would like to keep is Kasper Barfoed, the vice president Global Sales,. If you note, he was promoted from country manager, Germany. Its seems strange that Sepura received another huge (Quantity wise) order from Germany. Its quite likely that even product support is going to become burdensome. I don't see how it would make sense for Germany to veto this takeover if the consensus is that Sepura only has 12 months as an independent entity There is no obvious synergies to this takeover and it looks like Hytera will have to go for drastic cost cutting and economies of scale. Duplicate product suites are an unnecessary costs. They've borrowed money for this takeover. That means all manufacturing in China and realistically all product development. if they don't do that, then they will run into trouble just like Seppy did.

It doesn't seem like Hytera or even Sepura has been able to penetrate this market, a cosy backslapping the sheriff, take the boys out for a few beers network. The US is going to make a giant leap forward with their Firstnet network, a nationwide broadband network for emergency responders. They need specialised smartphones, laptops etc for this. That's if it ever gets beyond the planning phase

Sepura wasn't a casino share - that implies randomness to its behaviour. It has an underlying logic which in retrospect seems obvious but should be common with electronics hardware / telecoms Its SP was held by long term contracts. In the meantime technology changed, TETRA radios became 1990s technology, and the people responsible for renewing contracts decided to go slow. Its still a very useful product and will win contracts, but we are now used to 4G and the versatility of the smartphone. Maybe its only good for managing fleets of buses now Its possible to move with the times . Airbus have got a very nice smartphone / Tetra hybrid on the market since last May - see their impressively named tactilon dabat. the "turn around specialist" is not offering much direction tbh. This company's difficulties were put down to short term cash flow, but it seems there is stagnation and drift in product development. It needs a better CEO and a better led technical team its a wrong company for a generic turnaround specialist. Its not supplying chicken vindaloo to Asda. It needs someone with domain expertise. All IMO of course.

whats the scope for private equity taking over ? Its interesting that Teltronics was owned by a Spanish PE firm and was on the market for over a year before Sepura bought it. Sepura at the time called it a complementary purchase. I don't see Airbus gaining anything from Sepura except for market share and the contract pipeline look at their smartphone and Tetra hybrid. Sepura doesn't seem to have anything looks as good ;).
