Last week was a very bad week for the sp firstly we had the bid that in fairness most knew wasn’t going anywhere officially rejected in itself guaranteed to sink the sp. Secondly it happened in a week when the market itself absolutely tanked which lowered it even more.
The company is actually very strong and in my view has significant potential and not affected by the returns woes of Boo and Asos.
Most on here now appear to have already banked a quick profit in their minds with the talk of the bid and are now angry that MM didn’t sell the company on the cheap. The smart money is still heavily invested and the PIs have such a small stake we are irrelevant so howls of protest here won’t make any difference. Equally I doubt we will have separation this year why would you do it when the market is so full of pessimism that the move will be undervalued.
I think at this point you either have faith and stay invested or you don’t and cut your losses and get out Dyor
@Goldy I get your point and it probably will go for £2.50 ish IF it’s taken private but in fairness around £4 would still only give a valuation of two times sales or there abouts.
Compared to the other growth stocks you mention that is still as cheap as chips. Dyor
Kando I see your point however if he can get for sub £3 I don’t see a downside for MM providing he is still a major player so what am I missing?
Also I would love to see a £4 but as you say I really can’t see that happening unless of course it stays public.
Phew - Okay I feel relieved I must have imagined my buy at £1.89 thought for a moment I was heavily down on my 90k buy .
All I was saying is you will get a bump up on news but the real re rate will be as the market settles down.
I am afraid we are in for a very choppy ride this year you get these few days of rally’s as people steady their nerves then the next scary story hits and down we go again.
It’s a 2023 play if you can hold tight! Dyor
Dear all thanks for the thoughtful comments on my query.
Regards SP I don’t think it will move much at all until this settled one way or the other irrespective of strength of film slate.
Once it’s done we should hopefully see a significant rise.
Does anyone think they could still do a deal between themselves before this goes to court?
I sold my holdings at a loss because I don’t have that much faith in the management team too many own goals on the last two updates. I still think the retail sector is massively undervalued but I just felt that there was safer bets in some other retailers.
It could be bought out of course but I am not convinced TJ would support that. Dyor
HNS - I agree the risk is outweighed by the potential gain I bought a decent chunk today (not quite at the bottom) as it turned out :)
I do think it’s a share not for the faint hearted so if anyone is uncomfortable with risk this is probably not the stock to own Dyor
Win the Cineplex suit and an easy double plus in share price even a lesser settlement probability same.
The fact that the movie slate is strong and results encouraging will make didly squat difference until it’s resolved.
1.8bn last year up from 800m previous this year looks like around the 4bn and building from there.
(Normally this business would be a cash machine )
Shares currently dirt cheep BUT could go bust if the Cineplex case goes against them with no support from their lenders.
I am about to pull the trigger on a bigish buy but teetering on the edge. Dyor
Hi Mountainous - I tend to agree with your point on the debt and reality is that the owe so much that even if they have to pay the full walk to Cineplex set against what they already owe I would be really surprised if the lenders pulled the rug just when all the bad news is out of the way.
A part of me wants to invest big on that basis but I am not quite brave or stupid enough yet:) Dyor
Apologies meant to say I bought a tranche more!
Time will tell! - I do think the market cap was silly last week and is ridiculous now as basically the Joules brand is strong it’s got to be a takeover target at this point. Dyor
Just hope it picks up a bit during the day as right now my 64p average looks like an expensive mistake;)
Artrader - It’s certainly no NEXT I just hope it isn’t Laura Ashley!
