I think the point of these mines from an Auto maker prospective is to vertically integrated battery production.This allows them to control costs and keep this part of the profit in-house.LG chem absolutely screwed VW on their battery deal not pretty.

I believe when volumes are low MMs adjust the book so they have as little stock as possible.This can mean a low sp for a number of weeks OR someone has put in a £50 million order and they are working it.We can always dream????

My bad the Tennessee factory had a fire and they shut down for a few days.i heard it on radio I thought is was permanently closed.But Trinity project has been having problems.I am very wary of VW spin at moment lot of green washing going on.

For future gazing look at Tesla investment day it's on 1.3.2023.This will tell you the scale that lithium is needed.The next battery tech for grid storage will be sodium chloride this uses even more lithium.

You have to say china playing a blonder here.All the junior miners in development will be starved of cash as OEM will go for cheapest option.This will make sure development will be stalled a few years as china becomes dominant.Think about it nearly every mine in EU is on stop we are so short sited.

At moment world supply about 0.6 terrawatt needs to go to 30 terrawatt.Thats all transport and grid power.For grid sodium batteries look promising but years away yet.Thats 50x in 7 years absolutely bonkers.It will be interesting how close we get.I think Tesla has something up its sleave in process or mining????

Tesla has an investment day at end of month,one of the themes is battery materials and the path to renewable future.What I was gobsmaked at was this.At the moment maximum lithium extraction world wide comes at something like 600 million gigawatt/hours of battery storage.Sit down for this by 2030 we need 30 terrawatt/hours of storage so I don't think KOD has a problem.If Mali plays this right they will solve a lot of their countries problems.
