The most interesting part for me is Borris comments about investing in the UK infrastructure to manufacture the tests. Considering #AVCT are already signed up to BBI & Abingdon and in talks with #ODX it's very promising..

I don't see this being approved for home use. Maybe at pharmacies at a push. Shows the UK are ready to spend. We just need to get our test out now.
I’d imagine 10-20%
Thanks for answering. So I guess you’re saying technically possible but unlikely for mass screening?
Doesn’t the detached spike only display after a certain time?
It’s not key but would be very interesting if a test could calculate if you have the virus (with pcr or better level of sensitivity) but then also not give positives for those who have “embers” of the virus remaining.
Basically a test that could say how infectious someone was. Or if they were infectious: yes or no.
This would improve on pcr which has given many people a “positive” even though they are not infectious any more.
If it could be super accurate it could even give a number of days they need to isolate for (maybe less if they are not as infectious/ nearing the end of infectious period) - although this is probably too optimistic.
Bump for monk hood to see if he can answer question about quantitive results.
Monkshood - can you help with this question?
Can Mass Spec deliver quantitive results? Can it provide a comparable intensity of the whole spike and the detached spike in a sample to give an idea of viral progression?
Don't remember him saying "immiediate future" but that was certainly intimated - samples were there and validation for BAMS wouldn't take much longer...
Just so people are aware - Map sciences are also working on Mass spec testing
It's interesting for us - because of the price per test it looks like the Gov is paying... Think of our margins... £4 a test is VERY achievable

We saw the gov ordered 1m antibody tests as a starter order - looks like the gov paid £10 per test if this is just for the 1m...
£10m order
It’s “testing commons” All one word dot com
No because they don’t have it yet/ it’s not been published. You can see the email reply at - https://twitter.com/buy_buy_bye/status/1314447753922179086?s=21
I emailed them about the 88.5% / 99% figures for our test.
This was their reply -
There was an error in the database and the Sensitivity and Specificity data was incorrect. Testing Commons.com will be corrected and updated at midnight tonight. Please recheck tomorrow and let me know if you have any further questions.
Spreadex are but they've reduced the margin a lot over last week
20th August - options were also issued to a service provider...
Alistair also said the BAMS test is very very sensitive and highly specific from early data. And they have the samples now to get on with validation.
He also said
Thanks Trek - couldn't find link to interview
Did anyone notice in the Stifel Q&A today Alistair was asked about this and didn't answer it... Telling?
