The Tanzanian Government revised the mining licences to ensure companies that applied for them were going to go forward with production. In the past companies were guilty of stacking up prospecting and mining licences and doing nothing. Oh and the Tanzanian Government take a stake in the licence , Barrick Gold are happy so I am pretty sure HE1 are happy imo....

They work with companies the size of HE1 to that of Barrick Gold.

Barrick have no problem with them.

And HE1 have a number of licences in Tanzania - the current one they are drilling is only one of them.....

Contrary to their Misinformation - The Tanzanian Government take a stake ( an active stake ) - in projects. The change in licences was due to people buying as many as they could and never doing anything with them. They work with companies not against them.

Data reveals that the unrisked Prospective Recoverable Helium Resource (2U/P50) at Tanzania’s primary helium project in Rukwa stands at an astounding 138 billion cubic feet (bcf). This positions Tanzania as the holder of the largest known primary helium deposit globally and signals a transformative shift in the global helium supply chain.

The 2016 discovery of 54 bcf of helium gas in Lake Rukwa marked a pivotal moment, showcasing Tanzania’s capacity to significantly alleviate global helium shortages. Helium is a critical component in medical diagnostics through MRI scanners and is indispensable for various advanced technological applications.

Until now, the United States has dominated the global helium supply, accounting for approximately 60 per cent in 2015, followed by Qatar. However, Tanzania's burgeoning helium resources are set to redefine this landscape.

The discovery of helium by the Geological Survey of Tanzania and Helium One, in conjunction with Durham and Oxford universities, represents a historic opportunity for Tanzania’s mining industry. The global market for bulk liquid helium, valued at over $2.7 billion, with prices surging by 135 per cent in three years, underscores Tanzania's immense economic potential.

Tanzania's journey towards helium production epitomizes the nation's progress and aspiration to lead on the global stage. As 2025 approaches, Tanzania is set to transform its economic landscape and offer the world hope and innovation.

Go and look at the US and see how long it takes to go from an initial prospecting licence to a full Mining licence and compare the two , btw you would be very glad you choose Tanzania re timescale......

And if you stand in the same place and Never Move - the likelihood of you being hit by lighting increases.

Indeed they are very out of date. The Tanzanian Government changed the Mining licence requirements recently ( for Production which requires evidence for production or the ability for funding for production. If you look on the Tanzanian Government website you can find the full list of HE1 prospecting licences. I should stress that this website is frequently offline and slow to update. However it gives a good insight to the areas covered. And quite helpful with research . In the precious metals sector the Tanzanian Government take a stake in the development of the Mines though the Government company Stamico. They use Norwegians to help them develop the offshore Oilfield licences. So to say they are not forward thinking or looking to advance would be contrary to everything the Tanzanian Government do. The reason for the change is simple. You could apply for a prospecting licence and do nothing with it before, that's changed you have to progress it.
