London , I don't understand how you would be paying more than the ASK unless the order was extremly large, and your Broker was not working it well, perhaps a limit order would be worth a try, and are you doing this without Level 2 .

Ben - What are you talking about - every shareholder has a vote through the large Nomine accounts. Ben I think you need to look in the structure of the holdings first.
