Agree Bladey. Chalk and cheese. And Globe's MDA came before much of their feasibility and technical work etc, and crucially before funding. MKA's negotiation is being done in tandem with funders we think so the project should progress quickly once the MDA comes. The ducks are pretty much in a row.
Imo the MDA isn't far away but I'm not holding my breath for the end of this year. It was also promised last Jan for example. There's also an inherent contradiction in Malawi saying it'll be given this year at the same time as saying there's still a few points to negotiate.
I wonder how ORM fared at the Aquis Showcase event today. BGT style complete with golden buzzer apparently.
And does anyone know anything about Peak Minerals btw. Battery metals but what/where etc? I don't think we've been told anything.

Interesting interview with President Chakwera. Looking to position Malawi with both the west and the global south (both and, not either or). And in the last couple of minutes of the interview he mentions Sovereign's rutile and the "other minerals" and believes Malawi has the prospect to be on a trajectory of real development.
I agree probably from the Malawian govt first. As to when, hopefully soon.
I'd expect PR overdrive when it's announced, lots about years of hard work and leaving no stone unturned in negotiations. Partnerships, maximising socio economic and fx benefit to Malawi. Win win and warm hearts. Lots of positive spin.
I've seen periodic attempts by shareholders groups to push for a simple system that reports trades in real time tagged buy or sell. The powers that be in the City tend to resist, claiming people asking for such a change "don't understand the system".

Just as well Michelle's going to their place because the Malawian government can't travel atm. Things must be bad. Let's get the MDAs done and the money flowing. Win win
Yes shuffle her off somewhere asap.
I'm still trying to work out why the BKY sp has been holding up so well despite Sanchez forming a govt. I'd have expected it to fall at the prospect of 4 more years of the same govt approach.
Maybe it's because no-one expects it to last more than 2 max. The dodgy amnesty will also surely fail in court. You can't ignore the constitution then pardon one set of cons just to get you into power and leave the rest banged up. The coalition would fall with the amnesty. And you've also got BKY's v strong ongoing legal appeal, and the possibility of the govt deciding to act lawfully for once and give the permits anyway.
No wonder half of Spain's out on the streets.
Globe got theirs in March under the same regime as existed in Jan. Due respect to Malawi, but the politicians' promises are better seen as good intentions imo. Monica's very different, in a good way, so I have high hopes this'll complete soon.
Fingers crossed, just be aware we've been here several times before, including with specific dates from the minister of mining.

Could it be that the market thinks the new coalition will be more likely to act lawfully now and grant the outstanding permits now that Podemos are out the picture? Ribera's still around but it was Podemos often openly crowing about flouting the law.
Monica's promise/assurance of a Dec timeframe for the MDA is only an expression of intention imo. Malawi wouldn't concede the outstanding points just to achieve it, in other words.
She's astute charismatic and building up a head of steam though. It's coming. She clearly believes in it.
I keep a closer eye on Lotus and Globe for comparables. Both SPs are depressed but this doesn't worry me unduly....
GBE got their MDA in March and equity raised in the summer for "technical feasibility work, metallurgical testwork, pilot plant work, and mine and refinery preparation and planning costs for Kanyika, along with director loan repayments, corporate, operation, and marketing costs".
So MKA is imo so much more exciting because of the broad mine-refine-re-recycle offering, and.......whilst they'll need money they are much further down the track than GBE in particular in respect of the all important funding to build the mine.
Momentum building. But I agree after several false dawns the actual MDA/ML is what's needed. Monica's positive but saying there's still 2 or 3 points to negotiate. The GBE and Lotus SP are still depressed too.
Monica also clearly understands that the MDA must align with MKA's funders' requirements, so I'd expect the whole Songwe project with funding to take off as soon as the MDA arrives. And the MKA SP should take off with it.

Looks like it'll be Sanchez again come next week with a chaotic coalition but with all sorts of issues particularly around the amnesty.
The BKY sp seems have held steady recently notwithstanding. Any thoughts on what to expect now for BKY? On the face of it not promising for permitting.
