"It's clearly software.. fleecy seems to be losing the plot"
I agree if you go off the description on the company website and the most recent PRN, yet last years PRN clearly says:
"The second knowledge-based mining approach (Method ‘B’) will need the availability of a proprietary ASIC chip which, if successful, probabilistic mining could be improved by several factors compared to today’s deterministic BTC mining using commercial ASIC chips."
On the website it says:
"Method B software will be available, as a software module upgrade to commercial mining rigs firmware and will be connected to QBT server, where the in house Machine Learning engine, will update the parameter of the software module dynamically. Activation mode of Method B will be as plug&play on existing mining rigs."
An ASIC isn't software it's hardware and a software module isn't an ASIC, so there's a contradiction between last years PRN and the website; Therefore there are two plots, which one's correct?
The most recent PRN also suggests that QBT are talking about a software version of Method B; Maybe they should have differentiated it by giving it a different name than Method B, which they'd previously advised requires a Proprietary ASIC, in order to avoid confusion.
It'll be interesting to see if they achieve their theoretical 2.6 times improvement, and if they do, how long it takes. If it's as easy as plug & play, which they imply, it should be super quick, since the Bitcoin network allows the processing of around 144 Blocks per day, 7 days a week. You can build a car in the garage and start it up, you wont know if the wheels are going to fall off until you take it out on the road.
