Agreed I feel sorry for those struggling to pay for heating this year but taxing the smaller producers and leaving the big boys alone as their profits are mainly made abroad is madness. The govt policy is going to cause the situation to be worse
Serica and all other NS producers should stop producing distribute its cash and only start producing again once this madness of taxing everything to an inch of its life is over see how the govt responds then
There was nothing wrong with Liz Truss vision, including her refusal to extend the WFT - just how she went about it. i wonder how long before we look back at her short tenure with nostalgia!
As others have said, economically there is nothing between the Tories and Lab and not much else in reality.
But if the govt is generally unsupportive of the industry and or imposes draconian taxes the value of its reserves are worth considerably less. With the risk etc probably next to nothing so return the cash but don’t expect much added value to the unrealised assets
How did such a good co/investment end up so undervalued? Govt action but all the same terribly depressing
How soon £2 or will cash really underpin the share price? Not convinced it will
This is the end of NS oil and gas absolutely no incentive for companies to take the risk in extracting oil and gas from uk waters if the are effectively paying the government for the privilege
Hate the situation but that’s the reality
You can guarantee that even though the market values NE as zero a duster would cause the SP to fall. My guess by 10 to 20% just on sentiment alone
The investment case for oil and gas shares no longer exists thanks to government and group
Think that profit is bad
Very sad but I suspect in the short term this will result in less energy security but I’m so frustrated by the whole thing I no longer care when the cons and Labour vie for who can be the most left wing it’s time to give up
Rumours WFT its playing with peoples livelihoods and money. It’s one of the reasons why Boris was booted out and Liz was preferred to Rishi and yet here we are again. If the WFT rises above 65% there comes a point where it’s not worth extracting the oil and gas let’s just shut everything down and let the govt see how they cope then
They weren’t bailing out the O&G sector in lockdown. But happy to effectively tax them out of business now
Morons
Can you legitimately back date tax? You probably can but isn’t there a convention that back dated taxes shouldn’t occur? I’m more concerned at an increase in the current level of WFT but as 65% was higher than Labour had proposed I’m not sure it can go much higher realistically but maybe that’s wishful thinking more than anything
Though the cost compared to the market cap is minimal
But we know there will be a reaction and a negation reaction at that
I want to know what is the future of serenity now? It seems it may not be as large as first thought and therefore commercial no doubt the market will take the most negative view
Ah well
