bassguy, a long list of investors promised to pay a sum of money when the share closed at 30p, the winner is the investor whose date choice is closest to the first 30p close. the winner gets to choose a charity, sets up a giving website and we all pay up. there was subsequently a view the initial donations weren't up to much so it was agreed people could make an additional gift if they wished. my date was 31/12/18, my birthday, and my additional gift will be £3112.18. faramog runs the list, tyfoon is currently red hot favourite, but there are no losers. gla

that's me all set for the move through 30p, we know its coming and I believe the MM are similarly positioning themselves now for the results announcement due this week, and the surge in demand likely to come from those who are waiting to see the performance to date and the forward guidance, in black and white. Nothing wrong with that approach unless of course you can satisfy yourself through research that buying early is within your comfort zone. Many of the institutions will take the (overly) cautious approach of the broker community, that's ok if that's their rulebook, it works for them. I suspect some PI will sell into the rise when they are buying, that's not weakness, its a return on time/money invested over the last few years and the opportunity to use the profit, for some of the good things in life. I have decided no selling until 35p or lemur spin off allocation, because I want the lemur shares, and then I plan to sell slowly in smallish amounts over the next couple of years just to release some profit in cash as I have a hell of a lot of money in here. will probably sell bits over 35p to take cash, but leave fewer shares in at greater SP and same value overall. If divis announced, then will reassess as leaving shares in and having divis out makes more sense for me and my position.gla

I have no idea when atlas year end is or their half year but very often converting assets at cost or lower value to cash at todays value and booking the profit is a behaviour seen so financial results and bonuses can be maximised. gla

Clark - I think you are quoting their headline spread which will be the same as shown above, but within that is the real spread which can only be ascertained by doing a dummy sell and a dummy buy, this will produce a tighter real spread as described by nick below. gla

I thought that when we were a fledgling producer but now we are established I have come around to the view that moving from 3 to 2 global producers by way of two companies merging in SA if most unlikely on competition grounds

MM are going to need shares, they will be happy to ping your stop losses, they will be happy to race the price up to spike the enthusiastic and then hoover up on the drop, they will mispost a 500 buy as 500k and withdraw it later. be prepared for all their BS. Almost any RNS no matter how good will be met with a drop to catch the unwary. hold your winning tickets. gla
