Hi Bablake, it will normally search for all elements you teach it (standardise), our system Optical Emission spectrometer with argon spark is good and chemically extracted spectrometry, which is much better than what we use, but takes much longer. It’s very accurate and to be honest what I would expect them to maybe utilise. I would imagine they use a hand held XRF to identify an interesting area on the surface only, then probably crush and dissolve the metals to get a more accurate reading. Very long winded on these huge sample lengths. Unless I have it completely wrong. The XRF can miss lots if just under the surface
