VI. CONCLUSIONS
The Shaikan 1-B well discovered a significant amount of oil and gas in the Cretaceous, Jurassic,
and Triassic Formations. We estimate the oil resources to be between 1.9 BBO (P
90
) and 7.4
BBO (P
10
) with a mean value of 4.2 BBO. Gas resources range from 0.4 TCF (P
90
) to 1.5 TCF
(P
10
) with a mean value of 0.8 TCF. The high side (P
1
) resources are estimated at ~13 BBO and
2.7 TCF. No free water level has been encountered in the well through the TD of 2,950 m MD.
Seismic data shows even deeper closures below the Lower Kurra Chine Formation that are
prospective. Potential additional resources from these deeper formations are estimated at 1 to 5
BBO and 6 to 14 TCF.
The greatest uncertainty for these resource estimates is the areal extent of the reservoirs and the
estimates of net pay. A second well drilled on the east side of the structure and additional data
will significantly reduce these uncertainties.
This discovery greatly reduces the geologic risks in
the Sheikh Adi, Akri Bijeel and the Ber Bahr
blocks, Gulf Keystone’s adjacent opportunities. The Shaikan discovery proves the presence of
hydrocarbon source and migration in the area

The results of this study are summarized below. We have provided three estimates for gross
total, discovered and undiscovered PIIP: a low estimate, a best estimate, and a high estimate, which
correspond to probabilities of P90, P50, and P10, respectively. Unrisked volumes could represent a
theoretical maximum if all the inherent geological
risk were removed. As the geological model,
reservoir continuity and other associated factors
are defined and established, risk can be mitigated and
confidence limits applied.
