The low volume and a short-lived dip under 11.2p suggest another big trade (a buy, probably) is being worked and will be printed later. I'd guess just below the current official price, say at 11.38p.

No personal attack was intended. Sain is more likely to be right than wrong: the management of this company is abysmally bad, and it's difficult to see how it can survive in the long term. But it's an opportunistic punt at the moment: if it does survive beyond 26th June, the SP will rise. I recognize it's extremely risky but what isn't at the moment?
To be honest, the two Cassandra's almost convinced me. The only doubt I have is that someone with such prediction skills should already be a multimillionaire; surely, they would now be sipping bolly on their private beach instead of posting on LSE.

You may be proven right eventually but at the moment your comments seem rather desperate. We all get the point: death by a thousand cuts, etc. Perhaps you should simply admit that you opened a short at 4p and now can't believe the SP is higher than that?
That would be a decent thing to do, instead of pretending to be a good Samaritan.

I miss the excitement and trepidation we witnessed before the last set of results. Perhaps it was a bit over the top but I loved the joyful anticipation and people starting to celebrate early (some with sausages and ale, others with bubbly)!

Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't arguing that NCM would pay over the odds out of kindness. I simply think they're in a position to top any other offer. And yes, the survival of Telfer gives them another good reason.

One thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned in people's calculations of the value of GGP's 30% of Havieron (assuming NCM complete all the stages) is that the price offered for these 30% by NCM can be substantially higher than what any other bidder could offer. So, even if we concluded that GGP's part is worth 1bn pounds, NCM could pay more than that because they'll have got the rest almost for free.
I think the buyout of Havieron will be much sweeter than expected.

It looks like it to me: the SP bobbing around before taking off. This time around, unlike last time, people's expectations are more subdued and 'sell on news' is expected, so I won't be surprised if it turns out to be excellent news followed by a quick ride up to 16-18p. With Numis and co. revising their targets to 24p!

If this RNS is not a confirmation that Newcrest want to mine Havieron, then I don't know what is.

Out of curiosity: what would happen to the short positions if trading is suspended and the company goes into administration? Do the shorters still need to 'return' the borrowed shares, or do they risk absolutely nothing in that case?

It's clear to me that the recent RNS was a way to signal to the creditors: look, we'll be OK and you'll get your money back eventually if only you give us that standstill agreement.
Putting KPMG on standby is a way of piling a bit more pressure on the creditors: if you don't give us that agreement, we're ready to file for bankruptcy and you won't see your money anymore (and good luck trying to sell commercial property).

Yes, I agree that they are likely to be given some breathing space but it won't be exactly what they demand: the lenders may give them an extension to the end of this year instead.

All looking good then! Bust or boom. We shall see. I hope it's the second Taylor Wimpey, so that I can have pleasant dreams for a decade!
