I've been doing further research. The app on my phone doesn't allow me to do very much especially as I want to buy crypto with fiat GBP. In frustration, I thought I would check out the website, lo and behold I can buy crypto with gbp using payment services of either transax or banksa. With transax the payment modes are by bank transfer, visa/mastercard, googlepay and applepay.

With banxa it is only googlepay or visa/mastercard.
