RE: New update19 Mar 2025 10:23
@Robbie. I disagree .
The reason is to do with relative negotiating strength. Should Clogau Jewellers be a customer then their relative size would preclude us putting terms on the golds use , provenance etc.
The best negotiating position is where we have a limited number of offtake customers, and those should be 1. Of high quality 2. Less influential than us. 3. Entirely trustworthy
For those reasons I recommend relatively small businesses, but we stipulate 100% welsh gold in our terms (preferrably single source mine).
I'm working on 2 g Au / t ore and a production of 5000 t ore per annum. So 10,000 g Au per annum.
To visualise then 6 g Au for 22 carat wedding band
1666 pieces
Naturally I would expect other jewellery but that's just to scale perception.
Look at the prices limited edition pieces from artisan welsh Jewellers retail for.
I would prefer to keep our offtake partners exclusive and on a they need us more than we need them basis
I would also hope that numbered, certified welsh gold coins be produced with a nominal face value. The reason being that being legal tender, then they'd be exempt from capital gains tax and therefore attractive to those of us who are subject to cgt
