Yahoo finance shows this as 228.60 + 2.70 (1.20%), I think some prices have been slightly inaccurate due to the volume of trades....In times such as these - as long as it's stable as a company and making a profit, I'm happy with that.
I ebayed the last of my toilet roll and bought 2,690 @ 83.48 today. That's me now fully invested a total of £18,351 - all the spare cash I have at the moment, with a new average of 1.054. I'll add these to my existing holding and I will now wait and see what happens....maybe too early but who knows? What will "QE for the people" bring to the current mayhem? Tough times ahead but I need to get in again at some stage. GLA to all who invest in these troubled times.
Now I have pawned the hamster cage and other unvaluable items and bought another 2.5 grands worth today. Not much left to put in now, I missed the low today and got in at 90.64....this lowers my average to 1.1241. This will bottom out at some stage, every possible scenario will be priced into this share at some point.....for the piffling amounts I'm putting in it doesn't make much difference really. Still got 2.3k to put in should it sink to 60-70p - Just gotta keep all the doors closed for while in case the little critter escapes :)
There will be tough times ahead, many people have virtually no savings, even though we have had low interest rates, saving has been difficult for many people and gone out fashion for others - with so many tempting things to buy/enjoy (understandably). There is no financial buffer for many......With job losses that will occur with an inevitable slowdown in the economy this will impact on the banks. To what extent who knows, Barcs will suffer because of this and the divi may be cut? Something that I'm prepared to happen, but thinking long term it will be okay IMO. No gain without some risk :)
I've around 30k in this, bought for 1.94 and 2.24, I was going to sell 50% or all of my holding a week or so ago and buy more Barcs but looking at the way the UK/world is moving I feel this could be a good place to keep some "rainy day" money, accessible if/when I need it. In times like these (understandably) basic human needs become more essential. This share has held up well and could continue to do so. I don't know if there will be any great gains in the SP but at moment it's a definite hold for me IMO.
What a couple of weeks, this has been quite a drop to say the least.... I've sunk nearly 14 grand into this bank and I now have an additional holding of 11,663 Barcs shares. I have an average of 1.1772, I could have done better, (mistakes were made but I'll learn from them and move on :) This I feel will be a slow rise up , with further drops on the cards, ready with limited cash when/if it does fall significantly. I totally agree this will not be similar to the banking crisis - as that was a different ball game entirely. If I see a gain of a 80p to a quid over a couple of years I'll be happy with that. The banks have been "stress tested" for bad debt but that will only have limited effect depending on severity of the global/UK economic slowdown. But they are in a good position........unlike the banking crisis. I'd rather have a punt now than miss out on this golden opportunity. Just my opinion and GLA who invest in this bank.
To all who predicted the the sub £1, fair play, you were spot on. Bought another 3 grands worth of these this afternoon @ 98.12, starting to run out of money now....I DID NOT EXPECT IT TO DROP THIS LOW.......smashing all the piggy banks around the house to get into this share. Still got another £4,500 to put in then I'm spent up. I'll go for two more buys one @ 80p (didn't think I would ever see that price again) and another one at 50-60p (if it gets there). Then I'll go and live in a tent for a couple of years. A great opportunity at these prices IMO as a long term hold. My thoughts are also with the people who are/will be effected physically and economically by the damn virus.
Until the next bad news comes?.....Does anyone have a prediction for the next week or so? What will be the closing price on Friday? I reckon this share will stay where it is for the moment. The next drop could be UK lock down (if that ever happens) IMO.
Thanks....All opinions welcome and valued, the lowest I bought Barcs was 78p back in the financial crisis. IMO there is nothing to stop this dropping further at the moment, there is just some limited buying in a nervous market, this share is always the first fall and slowest to rise with the market. I know it's not going to be the same as the banking crisis. It will bottom out at some stage. I've just gotta time it right. I get attracted to this share in a climate such as this. Looking at 1.10 now if it arrives....Long term hold for me though.
Steady rise....Let's hope so, trying to gauge the bottom of a share is virtually impossible. The best that can be achieved is close to bottom, after all it's only 20/20 hindsight that in time tells us. I think it was the great investor Warren Buffet said "no one ever bought a share at absolute bottom and sold at absolute top." It's only when the market starts to move upwards that things become clear. IMHO.
Just bought another 6 grand at 1.1975, sometimes my impatience gets the better of me :) Maybe 1.10 will not be attained? I must stick to my plan. Either way I have some more cash to put in later for any new lows......this will drop again as economic news of a world/UK slowdown due to the virus becomes available, but in the end the markets and the world will learn to live with CV19 and it will become part of everyday life. Small rises and few new lows now I believe for the next few weeks.
Well what a day.... now I'm looking at 1.10 to buy some more, skip 1.20 that has already been surpassed, even sub a quid could now be a reality - 50 pence would be awesome, this share is Norman No Mates.......Totally friendless, A great opportunity in the coming weeks ahead for the brave (or foolish) - a long term hold for me.
