I am surprised at the market reaction to todays figures and trading update. To mark down the SP seems somewhat churlish although at least Numis have upgraded there target to just short of £10. Happy to hold.

Doing all the right things in all the right places. A very good set of results, good dividend growth and the usual cautious optimism going forward having had the opportunity to take a look at the pipeline for the first 3 months of this year.

...from everyone today. We just need the sales team to deliver some eye catching contracts and the SP will take care of itself.

Today's results and comment on trading is broadly encouraging, however, the market will only respond when and critically, if, the contracts are landed. Quoting is one thing, getting the signature on the dotted line is a whole different ball game. It reads well though and good to see that we didn't need to go cap in hand to Mr Watt....indeed it was probably more of a relief to him! Agreed on potential to multibag from here, some come on sales team, get them in the bag.....

Many thanks 1GW and I have allowed myself a little chuckle as BKG were on my radar as they slipped back to £24 a few months ago. I was torn between them and Savills but opted for the latter owing to the weakness of the pound and their excellent mix of business which often goes overlooked. I then topped up again in the Autumn having taken another close look at BKG but felt London wasn't quite moving as it should at the top end. Mr Pidgely is an extraordinarily canny individual and with his commitment to returning cash to shareholders owing to a very well accumulated land bank, BKG will stand you in good stead in the future. I have to also confess that as their share price had bombed out somewhat, I had a nibble on Foxtons. Very lean cost base but cash rich and a decent recurring income stream through their lettings side. Difficult to know if the bottom of the market can be called in London just yet but I am happy with my entry point which equates to today's price and it will motor on quickly with the first sight of some good news. It looks like we both like property related businesses but have a slightly different slant on it....Good luck with your holdings.

To be fair to 1GW, Skindle, he is only hedging in that he has only sold some of his shares. He has seen value elsewhere and needs to react now, so with FDL not showing any immediate signs of movement, I understand his actions. He still remains invested and I am sure agrees with your most if not all your thoughts. Whilst we are on the topic, may I ask 1GW, if you would like to disclose which share you have identified as worthy of your investment?

Given you broke the vow of silence Skindle and we are back down six pence, I feel compelled to post again!! We had a trading statement roughly this time last year (24th) so I think we can reasonably expect the same this year. Given the flow of positive news (notwithstanding the last RNS which didn't actually tell us anything we didn't already know) and with the passage of time allowing the benefits of our new consolidated warehousing to have firmly kicked in, we should be in receipt of an upbeat set of numbers which in turn should lead to a leg up on our SP. This is my hope and I would love to hear news on our long awaited commercial tie up with SPD which in my opinion is about as likely to happen as Nottingham Forest winning the Premier League in the next 2 seasons. MA is simply just playing games....why? .....because he can and he behaves like bully in the playground that has had his football confiscated.

Now Skindle, look what happens when we say nothing, our SP gently moves up by six pence in two days. Lets mutually agree to a vow of silence over the next month and see if we can test £3!!!

Yes Skindle, wash your mouth out with soap and water!! I think its going to be very dull here until we get an update or MA decides to sell up and remove himself from our register. I cant help but think that he is just sitting there to be a thorn in our side as we are none the wiser on a commercial tie up after all these months of waiting. His approach to taking stakes in just about any retail outfit that looks to be in a spot of trouble as well as buying freeholds of department stores just doesn't have any coherent strategy for me but whilst he has the cash, he can play how he wants to. Not sure what more there is to add to the current state of play...

.....the SP has stood up very well. I thought after reading the RNS and the outlook, we would have dropped approx. 10% so, for now, I am reasonably content. I think the market feels that everything is in the price until we get some numbers through.

....we are now solely reliant on a good trading update. The market doesn't appear to have had a sniff of anything positive otherwise we would be well north of where we are today. Sadly, all it has had to go on of late is that a significant shareholder has decided to sell out and we haven't got the grant we had reasonably expected to get after being encouraged to resubmit our application.... A good trading update is now essential otherwise anything different is going to fall into the jam tomorrow category that we have found ourselves in over the previous years.....I remain hopeful but not as enthusiastic as others here, but very happy to be proven wrong as my two entry points are some way north of todays sp.

Thank you Hollyhunter although all of that sounds like fluent swahili to me! The sentiment is not lost on me though and my fingers are crossed for tomorrow when the hope is we get a decent update about current trading and the SP reacts accordingly, thats my Stochastic etc etc prediction!!

There you go Redchilly, 875 achieved. Interested to know where you stand now....buy, add, sell or hold? Personally, I am happy to hold until the results which I believe will make for very pleasant reading. They do like to be particularly cautious in their statements with regards to the future but have a habit of outperforming.

Yup, agreed on that too. Interesting to see some of the recent buying and selling by our major shareholders.

Thanks Sain although this has has been widely reported previously so I would suggest is priced in. What the market will be really keen to know is how trading has been over the first few weeks of this year. Anecdotally I hear things are better. Fingers crossed this will be confirmed.

Agreed that there were some nice contracts that were won, however, we haven't heard anything by way of an RNS on this side for 7 months now so in the nterests of being balanced, until we hear anything further we have to assume no additional large contact's have come our way. Please dont misunderstand me, I have a decent investment here but in the absence of an RNS, the market will continue to focus on our reliance to our Chairman, hence my question over the last RNS and asking if anyone knows more of the relationship between the Cresswells and Mr Watt. If someone is close to the day to day situation, unless you absolutely have to sell, why would you offload at at a low sp?

Does anyone know the relationship between Gordon Watt and the Cresswells? To offload in this way and the timing of it makes me jittery....

Back in the day, even with a swift RNS to counter the news of a PPI impairment, our SP would have been clobbered, so it is pleasing to see FDL holding onto a resistance at £2. We only have a month to wait before a trading statement is due at which point it would be good to hear our chairman deliver positive news and our SP push to greater heights.
