"Partnerships are everything. That's how you move at pace" - Andy McCartney, CTO of Defence Holdings PLC in this podcast with Charles Archer. As soon as Whitespace and Defence Holdings publicly announced their strategic partnership (called Defence Technologies) I worked closely with the DH team to engage Whitespace's ecosystem of partners and discuss how we could bring all interested parties together into a sustained and scaling set of collaborations that saw, and will continue to see, all boats rise in 2026.
In just four months we had our first project build underway, in partnership with Google and the MoD, with Project Ixian. With a clear roadmap to commercialisation early next year and I fully expect to see it scale more widely into NATO partners. How can I be so sure? Because of the ecosystem of partners, like Google, we are working with.
In Autumn of this year, Whitespace, along with some of the Defence Holdings team, were invited by Oracle Defence to attend their AI World Conference. We presented, we briefed, we got interviewed on Oracle TV and we discussed with Oracle's exec's how we want to expand the partnership in 2026. More to come on this in early 2026.
As I look to 2026 I see already more partnerships to be announced, a pipeline of capability builds to get after and a wider application of defence proven technologies to be deployed into national security and national safety agencies. If the last four months of 2025 was all about "land" then 2026 is absolutely about "expand".
As team Whitespace evolve Collective 1.0 to the Superintelligence AI platform of Collective 2.0 in 2026, Whitespace will have enhanced its capabilities to rapidly build and deploy autonomous and machine-to-machine AI in a safe, trusted, ethical, secure and integrated way. Partnerships will be key to this work as we engage with UxV platforms, curated military datasets, data fabric, sovereign and secure Cloud and edge device infrastructures and work into an expanding ecosystem of SME industry partners with niche capabilities that augment our core AI applications.
Defence Holdings and Whitespace's success together in 2025 was based on strong partnering anchored on a shared purpose around being the best mission partners we can be to the MoD and our NATO allies. 2026 will be about not only scaling this strategic partnership but also further maturing and growing our partner ecosystem here in the UK but also internationally.
