AFC Energy target reiterated by broker after ammonia cracker split

AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF)'s launch of Hyamtec is to drive the commercialisation of this technology with a 100% focus on ammonia crackers and its own brand, says house broker Peel Hunt.

The technology provides low-cost, scalable, and on-demand hydrogen from liquid ammonia for industrial and mobile applications.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of AFC Energy, Hyamtec is to have increased flexibility in seeking financing for its growth.

‌Hyamtec’s ammonia crackers provide a distributed and scalable on-demand hydrogen production capability.

This cracker technology has also successfully demonstrated its flexibility to integrate with both ammonia combustion engines and gas purification technologies.

Buy with a 125p target price, says the broker.

Cash is not £5m

From the RNS:

"Cash at June 30, 2024, stood at £5.0m however current levels at the end of Q3 are significantly reduced"

So if there isn’t plan B for the company then what justifies the current MCap of £7m ?

From last month’s RNS : “At the time of this report, the Company has cash reserves of US$1.7 million.”

There's no conspiracy here, Ade; it's actually pretty straightforward. Someone sold 26 million shares to a market maker (MM) at a 20% discount when the share price was around 11.70p. This has been the largest volume of shares sold in a single day in years. Why the holder sold is unclear—it could be related to AFC or maybe they need the cash. but you will not get TR! because 26m is under the TR1 threshold (5%). The MM won't hold onto those shares and needs to offload them, so until they do, the share price will remain under pressure. Once they’ve finished, the price should recover and bounce back. When exactly this will happen, no one knows. They've sold a lot into the market over the past few days and we don't have information on any off-market sales. There's no need to spread fear—if you don't like the company, don't invest. It's that simple. Otherwise, take advantage of the discounted prices like many of us did and fill your boots before the share price rebounds.
