Hi Genghis i dont think Rudy was rubbishing them I think he stated the times when they had got things awfully wrong and may have alluded to conflicting interests? Me I'm not criticising the 'experts' but I am saying there is significantly more to this debate than simple economics? We are a very big trading partner and wtgr Ireland with it's comparative tiny economy and very 'political manoeuvring' is just as likely to upset it's European 'neighbours' by not being quite as accommodating as it could have been? I am very sure if we wanted to return that we would be welcomed back. Without wishing to sound patronising I personally find it very irritating when the BBC rolls out the tiny population and economy European countries who are effectively supported by the richer countries to state their support for the European project and that uk can't have its cake and eat it. We aren't and never will be part of the European project but would like to trade with them as fairly and effectively as possible. I think if our size of economy would like to join again, this will be taken into account and I dont think it's naive to think that either. Simple.

Market dynamics and "methods" of world trade (stealing and extortion) have changed a bit since then so I wouldn't draw too much of a comparison!! Also if we leave without a deal surely we can go back in later as well, if indeed it is so catastrophic?!

Tovoc, I didn't drive Jus away?! He just wrote such drivel (his first unjustified words to describe my comments) that it became totally indefensible and he resorted to continually being rude to me which I could not keave unanswered. He actually filtered (but not really) me first then just looked silly commenting rudely on my supposed filtered posts when all I did was question some of his statements. The simple irony being, if u go back and read my posts retrospectively I stand by everything I posted and that his were erroneous. They may have sounded very nice and positive but the share price has halved since then as well. Also imho it is best to listen to (rude arrogant) conflicting, yet possibly more realistic posts as well and not go off throwing your toys out of your pram. He started the rude remarks to me which I found to be particularly offensive but I still continued to post. Wtgr to him who I am sure is a nice bloke I just think he got a little too close to mgts silver words. I only really disputed his perception of overall 'quality' of Irish assets, his reasoning behind lack of directors buys and most importantly, the timings he oft quoted. Wtgr as well to your posts, regarding long term planning of expected sales revenues per bbl you'd just misunderstood my points made. I didn't see the relevance and to be very clear, there is an awful lot of shale oil (and now gas) that is cash flow positive down at $30 to $40 per bbl. (Oil equivt.) This mkt dynamic has got Opec severely spooked. We do need news now on all of the Irish blocks or if no farm out then imho we will be relying on Inishkea and again imho, to be clear, this is nowhere near a commercial "gas field" yet? I am still hopeful of a farm out to be announced in New Year until we hear otherwise. If no farm out what does this tell us about the mkts perception of such assets AND the mgt who have invested so much of our money in this pursuit. Well Rudey we've got about a month to see with regard to Hughs 'projects' surely and now have no real diversification 'choice' at all. (Really not interested in Morocco). As I've stated b4 I'm personally surprised the bod structure 'as is' has survived this long but personally think this has to be last chance saloon for some of them? Cue (from other posters) lectures about shale gas (non) viability (lol) and how oil companies make long term investment decisions (thanks lol) - like I didn't realise this. I am still hopeful of some positive news 're farm outs but less so, as each day passes and it would be (really) nice too see some form of positive New Year update. Best of luck all.

As I've said quite a few times b4 and worth a question at the agm, I'll wager JB earned relatively small amounts in comparison in his past roles hence was on a "prove yourself worthy of a peer group equivalent" salary and we (remuneration com.) will then pay you that, then. At the end if the day though, the real (structural) problems were there b4 JB arrived and this simply was linked to the stewardship and imho mismanagement over the years prior to this. Anyways I don't really care what he earns as long as I make money from the shares I own. Actually I was really a pro European from a purely selfish respect and a bit of a fence sitter as I also didn't like ECJ binding a lot of our laws however feel a lot of the reason behind this result is a complete disenfranchisement with the ivory towers of Westminster. The way a lot of politicians have behaved after this is nothing short of absolutely appalling and I now am firmly in the leavers camp regardless of the economic costs involved. I personally think TM has done a good job in incredibly difficult circumstances with the settlement reflecting leaving Europe and hopefully aligns some of the remainers as well. My only criticism being maybe she could have played hard ball earlier and whilst this may not have got a much better deal may have appeased unhappy leavers a bit more? On the eog front - here's bloody hoping for news of the farm out early in the New Year!!
