RBS having a bit of a go today! Often moves with TW

Ouch! That FTSE bet being closed was a shame! Still plenty out there to punt at, I've done OK range betting Apple recently and the oil is plenty volatile!

It is a 10 to 1 consolidation, the share price will go up 10 times, the number of shares will drop 10 times. Surely that is understandable? LOL

TW will break out soon and when it does I can see it doing a QED!!! Have a large holding in them and will bet it long once it breaks out for some tax free profit!

Both prices will rise relative to each other. The value will be the same as before, its just a different number. If you divide the number of shares by 10 but at the same time multiply the value of each share you have equilibrium

On a 10 to 1 consolidation the number of shares will decrease, the share price if 25p before will be £2.50 after consolidation. The thing to watch out for is "rounding" as they sometimes round down to the nearest simple multiple. This is going on at Citigroup at the mo so as they are doing a 7 to 1 I quicly sold all my spare shares that wouldn't divide exactly by 7. If I hadn't I'd have lost around £500 of shares!

about the consolidation take a look at Mecom. The SP is just a number, at any given point those who think the company will increase in value buy, those who think it overpriced will sell or bet short. It doesn't often reflect the actual asset value of the company. Just my thoughts guys, this is in my long term hold section but I do have a 40% profit having bought it a while back and a £50 long bet doing nicely (the bet will drop to £5 a point on consolidation) Sentiment will take a part in this as some like to trade "penny shares" it won't put off the institutional buyers, it could well have the opposite effect.

Is my tortoise share, it ables along doing nothing exciting but it makes nice steady progress, I'm up 50% on my buy price so very happy. Not so sure that I like the idea of consolidation as it changes the perspective of the share for some people. I thought that when it happened to Mecom but that one has rallied back nicely this week. The consolidation would put the price at around £2.85 a share if it happened now but at the same time would put the share high up to £120 to give it some perspective.

I got in spot on 8p but foolishly sold when well in profit. Doubled since I sold on news that they were having serious probs negotiating their financial position. Still it did make me a tidy profit.

Picked up shares right at the bottom; 8p but sold when I heard that they had serious problems with debt negotiations :( Not to worry, made some profit which has been reinvested. GL to all holding this, I'll be watching with interest!

Has to be a great short bet opportunity or has it broken resistance on the way to £10?
