Executive presents strategy for arrival and distribution of COVID-19 vaccine to businesses
President Laurentino Cortizo led a meeting with representatives of business associations, to whom they presented the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 (Operation PanavaC-19).
The details of the strategy for arrival in Panama and distribution of the anticovid vaccine were presented.
The presidents of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (Cciap), Jean Pierre Leignadier; from the Panamanian Association of Companies (Apede), Elisa Suárez; Union of Industrialists of Panama (SIP), Aldo Mangravita, and the Logistics Business Council of Panama (COEL), participated in this meeting.
Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo also participated, as well as the Ministers of Health, Luis Sucre; of Security, Juan Pino; of Commerce and Industries, Ramón Martínez, among other officials.
The National Government announced the arrival in Panama of the first batch of vaccine against COVID-19 between January 18 and 25, however they have not yet reported the exact date of the arrival of the first 40 thousand doses of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
Panama also hopes to apply the vaccines from Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and those supplied by Covax.
This week, two arrival and application drills were developed to test and review everything related to security and logistics.
For the application process, a plan was presented divided into four phases, subdivided into stages, guaranteeing the inoculation of priority groups in the first phases. In addition, a digital form was enabled for the registration of people who wish to be vaccinated.
