I remember posting something similar on this board ie. "project construction is likely to commence in 2025 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2027", but it was in March, roughly when the infrastructure proposal by Power China was rns'd.

Its infuriating when you can't find it again. I can only think that the item was withdrawn from publication then as it was still confidential.

Still, its all positive and its good to see it resurface again.

It's the opposition, Ghulam Muhammed Quader is leader of opposition in the Bangladesh parliament, that's talking about energy security in the article posted by Searcher. But it shows there is an awareness in Bangladesh. so its likely to be up on the government agenda

The article focuses on domestic gas as a solution - "To bolster future energy security, it is crucial to focus on exploring, extracting and utilising gas from new domestic fields to ensure a reliable supply of natural gas amid uncertainties surrounding its availability in the energy mix. This would necessitate enhancing the capabilities and creating opportunities for domestic companies in the gas sector".

How long does it take to explore and produce from domestic gas fields to get the required level of security? I bet it takes longer than the 2 year of a proven OPM.

Its clear the government is proposing to reduce the subsidy in the coming years. There has to be some alternative to as importing power becomes progressively more expensive ( and quite frankly unaffordable for Bangladesh). I wonder what quick alternative the government has/

Subsidy unsustainable in future
