Imagine for a moment doing a degree in Mathematics and you, the reader, are the undergraduates in the lecture theatre.
Your lecturers are the ones that do the research, are working within the context of abstract mathematical structures, following and constructing rigorous proofs and are therefore able to apply theorems to concrete examples of those structures...
Then we have the dumb-dumb Chilston, who did Disney, Media & Marketing at a ‘new’ University (waste of money where no one ever gets a graduate position upon graduation) who bursts into the lecture theatre at regular intervals, telling us we don’t know our Maths, challenging us all to times table (up to x 10) speed competition without calculators, because he is excellent at 9x8 etc.
