NEW CALL FOR CONGRESS TO ACT ON INCOME-SHARE AGREEMENTS: A bipartisan group of 20 organizations that support income-share agreements is lobbying Congress to pass legislation to support the alternative college-funding option that’s gaining some popularity in higher education.
— The organizations sent a letter on Tuesday to the Senate and House finance committees calling on Congress to pass “sensible legislation that provides protections for student consumers and a legal framework to guide the work of institutions and providers.”
— The letter was signed by former Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, a Democrat, who sits on the board of Vemo Education, an income-share agreement company, and John Bailey, who served as a White House domestic policy adviser to President George W. Bush.
