Max - 3.2p was the max it got to then. I remember because i got slated by Napth for pulling out some cash at 3p when i was 400% up.
The thing to keep in mind is that at that point we were heavily focused on the mexican mines and lizzy hills, so only on silver regions. Since then we've moved to be more iron ore focused
Smiller - It could happen I agree, however we're now 2 1/2 weeks from Christmas, and things will naturally be slowing down as people have time off.
I'm not anticipating anything major until early january when there is a decent period without public holidays for a good sp run.
I may be wrong, in which case i'll be delighted, but as i'm not anticipating anything i'm not going to be disappointed if we don't hear anything
Smiller - thats fair. Personally i don't think i'll ever trust myself enough to buy past about 30% of my portfolio in any one share. I have enough fails in the past for companies that looked to have everything going for them, that theres always that nagging feeling in the background.
That said i will hold to a much higher portfolio percentage if the sp rises.
smiller - I think you can do both. It may take a little longer than if you have the luck to hit early and hold on through the shenanigans.
Personally I have a decent sized holding in GGP and UFO, both of which i think can offer the multi bags over time, and a third chunk which is in divi payers. That way if one of my potential big wins doesn't pan out i don't lose everything. If they do pan out, then i can take profit out and start looking for the next big win from a bigger starting point. Yes i'm not going to be able to retire overnight, but i'm also not going to wipe myself out overnight either.
This is how i ended up still having a reasonable amount in GGP when the SXX debacle happened
Seems i'm one of the few here from a value investing point of view. I'll be continuing to build up a nice little holding as long as my average stays below 100p.
If it goes lower again, i don't care, i'll just be adding more. While my average remains below 100p i'm looking at a 9% yielf on my buy price
