Panama - Different people will see it different ways and i can totally understand that.
My point of view is i was never selling until we're pulling gold out of the ground, and the amount of gold that my shares own has gone up by 10% this week, and i havent had to spend any money for it.
Thats a great deal for me
Taken on its own yesterdays placing was a disappointment as we're diluted by 7.93%.
However taken from last week before newcrests announcement we're still better off.
Consider this (simplified numbers)
If last Thursdays our personal chunk of GGP was worth 100 units
On friday it was worth 120 units (worth 20% more as we kept the extra 5% taking our share up from 25% to 30%)
This Thursday it was worth 110.4 units (we're diluted by the placing (8% for simplicity)
Even with the placing our individual share of GGP is worth 10% more than it was a week ago, without any of us having to do anything
Its also not a summary if you throw out 20 posts on the subject, and use other posts to berate people who respond with their interpretation that they dont understand
pisjunky - "To clarify...I will stay on the BB as I most certainly would like to get back involved "should the risk become tolerable for my appetite"."
Or to translate. "I'm planning on buying back in if it drops below 200 so i can make another 20p per share"
Zaphod - there is a vast difference between dilution to keep the bod in fancy biscuits and dilution to aquire stuff
Tuff - that's because we're going to get people screaming 'waaa waaa waaa dilution' rather than realising you have to pay to get things
Pipsjunky - You really didn't need to lay your cards on the table. Your words today have shown you very clearly talking your own book
HH - Thats the mentality i have too. This has to be potential to go really big from here, and whenever i have some free cash to invest UFO always gets strong consideration as long as it won't take my holding to too big a proportion of my portfolio
I'll be totally honest. I'm not even interested in the sp while its below the 400p spike we had.
And even then i'll be holding tightly. Its so rare to be able to load up hard on a business whose sp has tanked through no fault of their own, especially while they continue operating as they did.
I'm almost blue with my holding.
I've got a target where i'm going to take out 1/3 of my holding, and the rest will be held for divis long term in my pension.
We'll pass £3 with ease over time anyway. Its all about where your investment horizon is, or if you're just trading for a quick profit
They didn't have a choice to revist the offer.
The offer was made before the option price was revealed. Why would Shaun accept that when for them to ask to revisit it makes it obvious they're not intending to take up the option. In that case Shaun would be giving up $85m for something he was due to get for nothing
notrader - Or to paraphrase SB from the interview "We've met our match with SD. however there are multiple other small explorers who we can screw over with jvs heavily weighted in our favour for that amount of money"
