Motzfeld and Tanbreez Complent each other.13 Apr 2026 08:56
Motzfeldt and Tanbreez (American-owned by Critical Metals Corp) projects are highly complementary because they offer different chemical profiles and minerals that, together, create a "full-service" critical minerals hub in South Greenland.
While they are geographically close, they specialize in different areas of the periodic table:
1. Different Primary Mineral Strengths
Motzfeldt (Specialist in Niobium/Tantalum): While it has rare earths, Motzfeldt’s "superpower" is its massive concentration of Niobium and Tantalum. It is one of the world's largest undeveloped deposits for these metals, which are essential for super-alloys in aerospace and advanced batteries.
Tanbreez (Specialist in Heavy Rare Earths): Tanbreez is one of the largest rare earth deposits globally, particularly prized for its high percentage (over 25%) of Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREEs) like Dysprosium and Terbium. These are the critical ingredients for the high-intensity magnets used in EVs and wind turbines.
