Gas is needed if you want green hydrogen.4 Feb 2022 12:06
Please correct me but as I understand it we are expected to convert to a hydrogen system which we obtain from natural gas and extract the methane from it. So natural gas is an essential to the future energy plans. It seems to me that the general public are completely unaware of this. meanwhile we have the bias media clamouring for a windfall tax on companies that we need to invest in natural gas particular that gas on our doorstep which reduces dependence on foreign imports. I really think the media and government should get some basic facts across to the population. IOG is producing green gas and investing in gas fields on our doorstep and should be supported and encouraged to maximise its gas finds and search.
I gather today, about 95% of all hydrogen is produced from steam reforming of natural gas. Hydrogen-powered cars are not really expected to replace EVs. Instead, hydrogen is intended to complement pure electric power, and there's a good reason for this: it is the cleanest fuel possible. Hydrogen to fuel a car is about 16$ a gallon so that speaks for itself.......... I hope we have some green buffs out there who can confirm and get these facts known to all. Best wishes just a few weeks to go.
I note that Perenco were major challengers to Savannah Energy over Chad, Cameroons and Niger. They may also be interested in South Sudan. They are big and no doubt will be in for any gas fields available in our seas as will no doubt IOG. So we have a major competitor it seems controlling the Bacton program and in fact IOG income . A little inconvenient I suspect. Perenco is said to be the largest INDEPENDENT oil and gas company in Europe and has worldwide activities. Maybe they could be the reasons behind the unexplained delays. Just my thoughts .
