bikly, other than a bit of positivity in general for investors and a big collective sigh i dont think brexit will do a lot for glen, being a global player, but general sentiment will settle the overall markets definately. I recon the likes of Rya, Ezj, Lloys and similar will gain the most from a bit more certainty, might even help the UK utilities like Cna, uu, NG with the possibily more stable government and reduced risk of a GE. Who knows though mate, id just F'off now and be done with it if it was upto me.

if you ever get a chance to go on a company 'open day' and look at the reservoirs grab it. i remember driving a minibus of colleagues from Bham to the Elan Valley dams for a freebie day off work once. We got to go inside the actual dams themselves with the water spilling over the top over our heads. It was bloody amazing. Also walked inside a section of the aquaduct from Wales to Brum, another serious quality piece of old fashioned engineering.

ken, quantity of water isnt a problem (apart from SE and Norfolk bulge) its the ability to store and process the stuff, as well as dispose of the sewerage side of things. No new water storage reservoirs been built for decades - i think Carsington in Derbyshire was the last some 25 years ago, so its down to water companies reluctance to spend big money and also a very very slow restrictive planning process. Its a good job our forefathers in most of the cities had enough about them to build in huge capacity in the early 1900's else we'd be buggered already. Sewerage capacity is always a problem as no one want one in their backyard and the standards are getting tighter and tighter to meet with bigger and bigger fines. I'll be OK though, i'll just drive the tanker home each evening lol

Digester billy, becoming more common across the larger sewerage plants now - its like free money/power to the sites. The smell is something you get used to quite quickly but it gets right into your skin, clothes hair, vehicle absolutely everything, lots of showers required and a very busy washing machine lol.

its a suprisingly diverse industry billy, lots and lots of different skills involved that you just wouldnt imagine and some superb clever people work in the buisness, ive loved every second of my time and have learned lots. Sorry to hear about your brother though mate.

billy. ive been based on clean water sites for most of my time, doing design or contract management work in the office side of 5hings, but have done a couple of years physically operating waste water sites recently, realy interesting once you can stand the smells. Strangely most of 5he guys in this line of work in my area have done the job for years and are all healthy - one of the lads is 72 and still refuses to retire! Not come across any that i know of with the big C, except for me of course.

billy. my line of work is water, has been for a (cough) few decades now, and Kiers are one of the main contractors in my patch carrying out all the installation and maintenance work - period contractor they call em. Best contractors ive ever worked with, very helpful, but very much put upon and worked to death for minimal payments.

its a shame, kiers are a contractor for my employer and i work very closely with them, the guys are absolutely fantastic but they work on razor thin margins, with the blokes doing std 55 hour weeks for rubbish wages with compulsory OT and standby on top, all their equipment is old and knackered. management isnt very good im afraid.
