I agree he is quite slimy and opportunistic like that Lolm, but he's a lot more polished than Boris. He's also far more (unfortunately) attractive with a 'Blair like' smiley manner than the dead beat commie he replaced, so real competition for a change. People are easily taken in in times of woe so id not be so certain just yet, the fallout from all this will take years to pass. And im a tory all the way through.

Firstly, its only available in a single area at the moment anyway. Then people have to actually download and run the app (about 30% take up in the testing area according to bbc) then people have to turn bluetooth on, then theres people like me happily existing with steam powered older phones (mine doesnt even have a camera) and also people who just dont think it will make a jot of difference or trust the government with their privacy. Its just a further waste of money imho.

Might find people over on some of the telecom boards have more insight into how the mechanics of it would work regarding the bluetooth angle, the news does say the UK is going against most of the rest of the world with a 'centralised' system i.e. run via a central computer not relying on the phones themselves to share info.

For the first time in history in 4.5 years the Labour party will be able to say it was the Tory party that bankrupted the UK, instead of the other way around as usual.

Most of it will just get added to the debt pile and passed onto the future generations i think.
But i recon we'll see things like the personal allowance rise stopped, pension age upped and maybe tax breaks like ISA limits reduced, Vat up and the usual cash cows like fuel and drink.
The one that im watching for is council tax. This is kept down (theoretically) by business rates. well those have been given lots of reductions, and with the amount of businesses and shops closing receipts from those will be well down. LA's will have no choice but to wack that onto household bills.
