HL used to permit you to withdraw your shares onto certificated form, i have done this myself, last time around a year ago. Have had a quick look and they appear not to offer this service anylonger. There was a period around the covid times when they wouldnt even let you lodge shares from certificates to electronic format, that changed after a while, so i would keep an eye out in case they change the current policy again.
There is some doctorine that the EU are trying to phase out paper certificates, i think by 2025 - probably keeping track of peoples wealth is easier in a digital format. Prior to Brexit the UK was going down the same route to conform, im not sure if that is still the intention, but possibly why HL have removed the option to certificste currently.
Id try elsewhere if its that important to hold certificates (i hold a couple still)

You didnt appear to understand that you disposed of your 'primary' residence, yet, presumably as you didnt say otherwise, had another residence that you clearly lived in. Therefore your 'pr8mary' residence was not the property you sold your son cheaply, it was a surplus second home, and as such would be liable for tax. As you indeed posted about yourself earlier.

I take it you also examined and learnt about the deprivation and CGT rules at the same time?
The second of those is the one that may f your son over big style when he eventually sells the place. Assume you moved from the 'primary residence' into rented to circumvent that?
Also hope you never need care at local authority expense (having a few quid separately tucked away elsewhere soon gets eaten by private costs).
