billy, i agree. i have never been a fan of the buyback and retention rather than cancelation of shares.
Its only benifit i see is to keep a strong defence in the event of an unlikely hostile takeover (vote against with block vote) but i view it as akin to sweetshop owner who is buying up all his approaching sellby date stock with his own cash, rather than sell em elsewhere or reduce stock levels to match customer demand.
I also dont like the possible affect that owning such a huge % of itself makes Glenda more at risk to a negative revaluation for any number of reasons. If the sp drops, this is magnified by those shares in freefloat as well as the non cancelled buybacks.
Glenda is the only company i can think of off hand that does this, same with return of capitals.

Quite what they are supposed to do with the cash they are generating now they are at practically zero debt is beyond me. Be nice on the face of it to expand, but Glendas made a few ball.sups doing that in the past, so id prefer an increased 'dividend' on balance i think.
