Evi, im with HL, costs more but i like the phone backup as you always get through to a bod straightaway, so although they arent the cheapest i recon i'll stick with em for that backup.

if not trading the stock and holding for a long time, then you could always withdraw to certificate and recieve payment via cheque or bank payment directly.
Ive done this in the past and cheque arrives on correct date.
If broker is pulling this 10 day stunt on other stocks as well id just switch broker.
