Maybe, but if the price rises too high then alternatives will be sought and used and they already are.
Whilst we're all familiar with domestic wiring being copper, an awful lot of power networks run on aluminium conductors, not copper cores. Similarly with most (non EV) modern cars, they tend to use aluminium as well. Purely due to cost.
Walking the dog yesterday got chatting with some guys working on a power pole round the corner from home, they were replacing the copper cables running up pole with single core aluminium, shown me how a joint between the two was done.
Best not to keep milking the same cow.
