@SW.....I understand that there is a precedent for "retrospective taxation" as a concept. Tom E hovever is correct in what he says. I have had the same advice from my accountant, as Tom has had from his. I think you might find that when signing up up an ISA for example you are in effect entering in to a contract, which I think is the difference from other types of arrangements, in respect of tax arrangements

I agree with you Jambo, and the further issue is that a lot of the Whitehall civil servants are basically left wing - apparently in particular at No 11..... That gives rise to an issue whereby we have a Cinseevative government having to rely at the moment in civil servants who do not themselves subscribe to "conservative" values.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the same thing was happening with BT, but I have no evidence to support that

The email is excellent, and it will be interesting to see what sort of response , if any it gets. It certainly merits one!

Quite frankly if all the suggestions contained in the email are factually correct, then the FCA should all over this situation like a rash, and the ITV Board should also be taking an initiative or alternatively "consider their position!"

Army...if you read the posts to which I was replying .... I wasn't comparing GGP to SXX , and am well aware of the distinctions between the two!....I was merely using SXX to highlight the abject stupidity (imo) of borrowing money to invest in shares - whether on the AIM or otherwise.
