Not everyone find stocks attractive, some find it carry's too much risk especially in these uncertain times . they just want a good tax free fixed rate savings deal, which they have not had for many many years, to get through the next 24months or so.

LTI government grants, loans, (C19 monies) and savings had staved off a recession but that's about to change.

Rising interest rates, wage growth, inflation etc, if the BoE doesn't get his right then the UK could well be looking at full employment recession.

Bailey has to put rates up to dampen spending yet too much may well see a huge contraction in spending which leads to deflation and lets be honest them silly a-holes in govt keep moaning, as you put it, for the banks to increase returns for savers. If joe public starts to put more and more into savings for an attractive fix term /rate then they are not spending, right!

Lets be fair the banks have not exactly gave a good return to savers for quite a number of years and not paying Divi's as well. Also as for putting up with a few moaning politicians well think the banks will have far more pressing issues to address in the next 12 >18months...

LTI, it clearly shows Lloy are not very good at estimating the impact of event, PPI provisions was a prime example of this and Lloy was an absolute selling monsters, they knew this and more , a lot more!

Yes prudent and if I recall the initial provisions lloy set aside for PPI, 4.5BN, we all know how far that went. total write-down for PPI was in the region of 30BN, Lloy in for 21.5BN ..
