RE: M25 Data Centre Power β‘οΈ20 Jan 2026 09:49
Independent Power Corporation PLC (IPC) is a UK-based independent power producer that focuses on developing, owning, and operating energy assets, with a specific, growing focus on providing power solutions for high-demand clients, including hyperscale AI data centres and digital infrastructure providers.Β
Orcadian and IPC intend to develop Earlham to supply gas to a power station to be constructed by Marine Low Carbon Power Ltd ("MLCP") and located adjacent to the field. The generated power can be exported to data centres located on the M25 corridor, where demand for clean, dispatchable electricity has risen beyond the grid's current capacity. Carbon dioxide produced from the reservoir and from the combustion of gas is intended to be reinjected into the Earlham field to maintain reservoir pressure andΒ enhance gas recovery.
Key Details of the M25 Project:
Location: Hertfordshire, near the M25, South Mimms.
Developer/Owner: Equinix purchased the site from DC01UK.
Investment: Over Β£3.9 billion (approx. $5.2bn).
Scale: A massive campus, over 2 million sq ft, targeting 250MW+ capacity for AI workloads.
Purpose: To provide critical infrastructure for hyperscalers (like AWS, Microsoft, Google)
Notice IPC only deal with HYPERSCALE data centers π€
