I'm not here to police speech but just to help clarify...
SPASTIC is considered by some as an offensive term relating to cerebral palsy.
The word was 'taken' from Spastic Cerebral Palsy & The Spastic Society, which the charity stopped using the name themselves because of the negative use of the word being used as slang for someone who is considered stupid or an idiot or such like.
I imagine there are people with disabilities that are feeling extremely marginalised by others using this word especially with the frequency it has been used in the last 24hrs.
Some of you may not fully realise the impact of its use but I'm sure it wouldn't be stood for if we replaced the word with a racial slur.
Again, I'm not here to police anyone, I just thought I'd assist in pointing out to others something they may want to consider. As I don't think it's acceptable...
...SO PACK IT IN AND STOP THE HATE!
