£165 million has been set aside as a bad case scenario. So, if the appeal is lost, doesn’t this prudently calculated sum pretty much provide for this eventuality? Or, is the court going to allow such a bank to go bust? I think not. It would kill all car finance dead - as no one would take it on, for fear of the avaricious lawyer ambulance chasers. The UK car industry is in enough desperation already. Take away UK sales finance and China takes over the whole UK industry. As usual, the lawyers win-win, and move on to their next opportunistic loophole. Judges( my brother is one) , have enough money not to ever require car finance, so I hardly see they are the right people to sort this out. WTFDIK

They have set aside £165 miilion as a bad case scenario. If it is more, (like £35 million more) then that’s not too hard to find, and it’s not going to ‘break the Bank’ ! A temporary SP setback.

If the number comes out less, then they can pat themselves on the back for being prudent. Also, the SP will soar as a result. Plus a possible dividend.

Either way , they have covered themselves well, as good respected bankers should.
