I said as the carlyle RNS was released that this smacks of another merlot man scenario and it is. However I think its a good thing its not been sold around the £1.30 mark as I believe £2 represents fair value. If anyone wants to make money from this share, buy and hold until this time next year and I'm sure you'll see a decent return

The market does not create easy obvious money making opportunities in the way many were suggesting re metro. In my opinion if a buy out happens then an offer will be made with no advance notice of this happening. Think about it, why would metro be available at £1.30 and give the short term investors an opportunity to jump in and double or treble their cash in a matter of weeks. Just doesn't happen as it would be too obvious

Think about it, the business is loss making so it has a less strong hand as a seller as each month passes, so there's no need for a buyer to rush a bid through. Let it linger and the business moves towards a position that it needs to sell to survive potentially, you just need to look at what happened with ratesetter to see this. Also before any nonsense comments about de-ramping. Just look at the financial and you'll see the reality rather than the fantasy. I still think a top end of £2 is achievable but think any bid will be closer to £1.60

I don't think smartie is too far off the mark re a deal in the background. I do think any deal would be closer to the £1.60 mark but would love to see £2 as I believe that's fair value

A few of you mention the historical share price as if metro is currently massively undervalued, metros valuation was pie in the sky because they never followed the traditional IPO route, they took money from existing investors and based their valuation on that. In short forget what the historical SP was and base it on the here and now

It's exactly what was expected in terms of SP this morning. Unfortunately the stock market doesn't just allow people to make easy obvious money. Any takeover will not be far away from the current share price, if it happens at all. Its a loss making business so for any sensible people out there, ignore the rampy nonsense.

Was about to say not until I see an RNS, great news, let's see what the next few weeks brings.
