Much to agree with there, but a couple I would take issue with.

The renewable internittency issue will be solved, and is being solved, both with innovative methods like EPP,s, old mineshaft weights, compressed air storage, and with rapid advances in battery technology. And in many locations ( Texas, for one!) renewzbles are already competitive with fossil fuels. And thats b4 we even consider the existential imperative here.

Second, while the Iranian regime is harsh, it is not as solid as N Korea. They will have to give some consideration to how far they can impoverish their ppl (incl their own power base!) without losing grip.

They need a deal, too,. Trump needs it more. Lets see.

Well, I don't expect to change opinions but it really beggars belief that after a fossil fuel supply shock I still read assertions that they give " energy security".

We may still need them, but they are the fuels of yesterday, are mainly from jurisdictions inimical to the UK which are enriched by our continued consumption.
