Daburger - ok noted. He is a bit of a bulldog so cant see him kneeling down quietly. Gilead (GILD) looks like a good fall back position for PFE. shares on a high and good HIV products and anti-hepatitis+oncology.

City investors encouraging AZ to re-enter into talks.

I don't think AZ are in this for charitable purposes. Let's just hope that Soriot and the board can really deliver the goods and are not guilty of "building themselves up to look good". Would be interesting to see Soriot's face when share price dips under the 3800 mark.......

Steveho - I agree entirely. Read has pinned his colours on this. I still think they may go hostile after winning over a couple of big city investors. Watch this space. Would expect it to drift upwards to £49/50 today.

It will go. Pfizer needs this deal more than AZ. Ian Read has put all his reputation on brokering this deal - for him its do or die. Expect a new bid after this afternoon.

Pfizer CEO must be very happy facing the lack lustre motley crew at the parliamentary committee. what an advert for the UK ! IR is cool and slick , the UK committee are rude, sarcastic and unprofessional. why am I surprised ?

Wouldn't a merger with Sanofi-Aventis be a better fit ? I am sure that PS could pull it off and make people feel happier
