It seems reasonable to assume pi’s were at the back of it. The price was asking for it, as is now particularly evident. Many pi’s can’t have believed their luck, and cashed in. There were possibly some very large holders, by my own standards.

Not sure what the object of second guessing the major shareholder list is, presumably on voting. You do not know how many larger holders under 3%, at what price level them or pi’s. If Wyloo saw the need, they could exercise their warrants taking them to 14.6% as was.As could the insider holders of co-investment options, 3%+.

That’s the issue. Seen it before. If a company perceives or it is perceived as persistently trading below NPV on account of it’s public listing, it gets taken private, with the then private shareholders arranging funding and getting the returns on their investment.

Wyloo were key to the fundraise. Wyloo are key to any proposal the board may put to shareholders, of any major kind. I and you have seen it to many times. In a RNS they will put a proposal, and say along the lines Wyloo and other major holders have indicated they will vote their entire shareholding in favour.
No proposal yet received.

They might be here to buy though. That’s always an immediate thought when bbs take off on takeovers. They own most. They will influence the board in decision making.

But nobody asked, yet, as far as I know.

JD I made it plain I don’t think a hostile takeover is at all likely. Really in response to the suggestions of strong defence being required. It’s done by negotiation. They’ll just say no IF they don’t see it as a reasonable bid, and it’s unsupported, certainly by Wyloo. But they may consider it’s in their best interests to be part of something larger, and ask us turkeys to vote.

Last thing today. Honest. If Mr. Day says Ggp is vulnerable on account of the price, what that in my view means is that the lower the price, the more likely an offer, and the lower the offer he may feel constrained to consider at least putting to Wyloo, to see what they and other institutions would support.

And they still, after negotiation, got to come up with a price that’ll pass a vote.

Yes, this talk of defending themselves and so on is overdone. They say no, if they don’t like whatever’s put up. And then a suitor would have to go hostile, replace them maybe, or go over their heads. Latter would be unusual. Don’t know, but can’t see it happening. Hard work.

We’re in the same share but different boats ( put a name to that ) I consider I’m well placed, whatever may reasonably happen, as they do. So I’m not fussed. And not knowing what might arrive at 7am any day. Others may feel differently.

No, you are arguing against a point I have not made. One has to accept, as a matter of course, a bid will represent value if it is to be recommended. It’s very simple.

I don’t think it’s an oxymoron in response to your comment,
“ has a team capable of not only seeing off potential suitors”. For the directors will collaborate and respond in the way described in my post. The ability of the team as an operational one is a different matter.
But I don’t wish to argue semantics.
