I haven't seen the site you mentioned in your post on AVM thankyou :) Other than holding Physical Silver yourself, and paying the 20% VAT.... The only physical ETF that I trust..... http://www.six-swiss-exchange.com/funds/security_info_en.html?id=CH0029792717CHF4 In the event that the (Zürcher Kantonalbank) bank got into financial difficulties your physical silver (Gold, Platinum, or Palladium) are ring fenced from the banks finances, and will be guaranteed under Swiss law by the Swiss Government. It's eligible to be put into an ISA, but you'll have to find a stockbroker that would buy it for you. Most prefer you to buy an ETF which JP Morgan has a finger in (I personally wouldn't even consider that). Management fee 0.6% . Other than that? Royalty company that holds physical. Gets silver through agreements with other mining companies rather than through operating mines themselves (reduced risk). http://www.silverwheaton.com/ Good but it's trading at a premium to NAV at the moment. http://www.sprottphysicalsilvertrust.com/ I like FRES (the biggest primary producer of silver in the world) and AGQ too. HOC is a little more risky because of Peru. Diversifying your holdings makes sense. There could be nothing worse than having the right idea only to find that through some unforeseen circumstance you're not fully participating in the party. ATB
It's been a long time since you last popped in on AVM. :( I believe Agriculture related investments hold great promise. You're in a good place here. I've posted something there today which you may find of interest. I'm equal opportunity investor. Not just gold and silver. http://www.hark.com/clips/mjtflbntjz-darling-miss-moneypenny ATB
Buy Silver and/or good silver producing companies......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gl47z2g2EvI&feature=player_embedded#! Hold the worlds biggest primary producer of silver. That's FRES by the way. Enjoy the ride. ATB
“Plant Health Care’s performance continues to draw plaudits, its crop yield-enhancing products being just what is needed in the time of a rapidly expanding global population. (The United Nations forecasts that food production needs to double by 2050.) Since land is running out, it is a question of how to grow more, and, what is more, Plant Health Care’s products are green. Broker Evolution is now forecasting sales at US$29 million next, against US$23.2 million, and then they are expected to reach US$35 million. Those sales, Evolution believes, should generate profits of US$400,000 this year (against 2009’s loss of US$1.3 million), and in next year the figure is US$6.4million. That would bring earnings of 0.6 US cents, followed by 11.6 US cents. The company still has net cash of US$15.9 million.” Source: http://www.agriprods.com/agriprods_roundup_february_2010.html “The Article”. You’ll need to register (it’s free) to read the articles in full. I’ve had no spam or other related problems as a result. You'll get e-mail alerts when new articles are posted. NB. What I pasted above is the full extent of the comment related to PHC, but its worthwhile registering as it will keep you in touch with news from other companies and developments in agriculture sector (which I 'm assuming you're interested in). http://www.agriprods.com/nc/agrinews/newsitem/article/indian-moves-to-curb-food-prices-and-imports/1158.html Apart from being registered to receive and read the news my interest is totally impartial and I have no other connection with Agripods (or PHC). Sorry if I built your hopes up. The article which I alluded to was a glowing recommendation, but unfortunately a badly timed one. At least it’s on record and still fresh in the mind, and so all being well it can still equate into something substantial. ATB
Hi SM Fancy meeting you here! Only a fleeting visit. I thought that I would drop into the Dragons Den and share that bit of info just incase anyone was left wondering what might be going down come Monday. Tradition has it that Dragons have a hoard of gold you know. See you back at the lair. https://www.myssldomain.com/afrocentricgifts.com/ProdImages/75570.jpg ATB
I have been made aware that a US publication has given DGO a very good write up this weekend. That should materialise into a nice run up over the next few days at least. Don’t forget the UK/US time difference. Things might kick off after we have closed. Watch the buy volumes/spreads carefully just incase the MM’s try to get hold of stock cheaply to satisfy increased demand. Remember also that we are in volatile times and that sentiment can turn very quickly after the dust has settled. The US listing for Dragon Oil is DRAGF. So you can look at how it’s performing in the US on ADVFN (get a free account if you don’t hold one already): USOTC:DRAGF Also: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=DRAGF%3AUS Good luck, I hope that it turns out favourably for you all.
GedW In at 8.75. I agree with much of what you say. I am with NB, but only because I don’t like to over expose myself to any one particular company. ATB
I do own BRNE and coupled with Obama’s comments it should do well. I commented on it as part of one of my AVM posts http://www.lse.co.uk/ShareChat.asp?page=7&ShareTicker=AVM There doesn’t appear to be an algae related holding unless it’s a very small % of the portfolio. If you feel like adding some exposure then you might find these links of interest: http://blogs.wsj.com/environmentalcapital/2008/09/17/bill-gates-goes-for-algae-invests-in-biofuel-maker-sapphire-energy/?mod=googlenews_wsj http://www.ecobusinesslinks.com/green-stocks.htm http://cleantech.com/news/1559/which-biofuel-from-algae-company-is-cl http://www.renewableenergystocks.com/Companies/RenewableEnergy/Stock_List.asp I have commented on nuclear, and I think that it is also worth looking at: http://www.lse.co.uk/ShareChat.asp?ShareTicker=GCL Due to the massive amounts of energy consumed only nuclear, and coal are viable alternatives for oil at this point in time. Energy Conversion: Typical Heat Values of Various Fuels Firewood 16 MJ/kg Brown coal 9 MJ/kg Black coal (low quality) 13-20 MJ/kg Black coal 24-30 MJ/kg Natural Gas 39 MJ/m3 Crude Oil 45-46 MJ/kg Uranium* - in light water reactor 500,000 MJ/kg (MJ = Megajoules), *natural U Extract from: http://www.world-nuclear.org/education/whyu.htm ATB
AGLD is in my opinion a good take over candidate. Look at my posts on 28th Oct, and 31st Oct (page 8). Those statements I believe are even more relevent now. I am in Spain at the moment, and slightly indisposed (read my post on the AVM site). All mining shares have the ability to disapoint, but with that in mind this is one of my favourite junior gold plays. ATB.
Try again. Someone keeps moving the *~# thing: Newest link here: http://www.ne.doe.gov/pdfFiles/rpt_SustainableEnergyFuture_Aug2008.pdf
I only just noticed the link to that PDF with the signature, has been moved. I found the document in question @ this new location. http://www.ne.doe.gov/pdfFiles/rpt_ SustainableEnergyFuture_Aug2008.pdf ATB
Sorry price altered as I was writing. Figures are still relevant.
http://www.londonstockexchange.com/LSECWS/IFSPages/MarketNewsPopup.aspx?id=2063210&source=RNS So NAV =29p Share price = 20.25p to buy That means even taking into account the spread you are getting 29p of assets for 20.25p. That’s a discount of 30.17% on the bid. Or a discount of 31.45% on the mid price. They had a cash position of 13% @ 31-12-08. In the meantime nuclear/uranium companies have been doing very well so that 29p is almost certainly higher. The managers (and I can’t emphasise this enough) are highly respected, and nothing short of first class. http://www.ncim.co.uk/fact/gcl.pdf Barrack Obama has appointed Steven Chu as his new energy secretary. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=asJUo_UNRhQo&refer=home if you look at this PDF document which was signed this August. You will see that he is one of the signatories on this document in favour of nuclear power. http://www.stevepearcemedia.com/Lab.directors.nuclear.energy.position.pdf if he can't exert any influence that can? If all that doesn’t persuade you to dip your toes I don’t know what will. ATB
All sells no buys. Only the spread that has altered. However I still think the nuclear has got a bright future. In the last uranium boom both Sprott, and Barclays thought this worthy enough to hold a stake. OK due too the continuing banking crisis I don't expect to see Barclays hold a notifiable position, but it says something for the quality that was attached to the company at the time. Not for widows, and orphans, but otherwise well worth a shot. G
Sorry I will clarify. It was a bad day for the market overall. URA volume 75K all buys, but importantly no sells. ATB
The volumes looked very good today. It didn't do anything for the SP. Having such a low SP it tends to look as though it's standing still, the pressure builds up and it jumps. As volatile as their product can be infact.
The revenues from oil have been used to fund the welfare state to the extreme. What happens when the oil dries up? There is a real benefit culture in this country. Why go to work, pay tax, national insurance, travelling expenses when you can stay at home have free bus passes, heating allowance, no rent, water, or community charges? In many cases they are getting more income coming through the door than they ever could if they had a job to go to. Couples that are living apart because two individual allowances are greater than they would receive if both they lived together. Can a person in work demand more money from their employer because they have X number of children, a larger property, heating allowance, a bus pass, school uniforms, shoes, holidays, a people carrier to take the kids to school , mobile phones for themselves, and their children……..? NO. But I know personally of people on benefit who do get those things. Honest people who work and their children are in comparison disadvantaged because of it. Only recently I have witnessed community police officers cleaning off graffiti. Does that all add up to a fair society? By jove I needed that.
