Rough is in 2700m of water whereas Marram is in 30m, I’m not saying that equates to a Runway vs a Driveway but 2700m is significant and introduces complexities that are highly specialised and expensive. Could be looking at anything from 500-1500mil, I’d anticipate it to be somewhere in the region of £1bn. They have about £1bn of gas on their books which would then transition in to subsequent storage too which takes the sting out of anything that starts to resemble “£2bn” but procured with the right strategy and this subsidised itself. Enter GB Energy and and who knows. But there’s plenty of options on the tables a billion here from somebody, half a billion there some someone else, it’ll fall in to place.

For ROUGH context, according to Centrica's 2024 Annual Report, the Rough facility generated £653 million in operating profit between its reopening in late 2022 and the end of 2024. So call that 300m a year, PROFIT…

It’s mental that EPP is sat at £23mil. This could easily be double that any time in the next 6 months. If this shot up to £100mil mktcp I think we’d still be talking about how cheap it is.

GB Energy CEO also a north west lad by sounds of it, he knows what this kind of infrastructure means for the NW, Lancashire, Barrow, and UK (and beyond!!). It’s going to get support, they’re spinning a billion a year (at present - rising to 8bn once new wind farms come online). To say there’s not an investment/business case for supporting/funding this project is utter madness. We’re throwing money down drain.

Be nice to hear an update from Team Barrow on their master plan, Wood Group FEED, hazer update… LDES might be a longer duration but everything else is plug and play. We’re already wasting electricity, the Hydrogen, Graphite, Gas and Amonia could kick off in 24 months…
