RE: No Volume !14 Aug 2023 10:17
There is no factual data on this as the stock market never reports the direction of a trade - whether you are buying or selling - it just reports it as ‘a trade’.
Looking at the last 60 trades listed here on Friday I don’t see any that look to be ‘mis-allocated’, however, the point is that they can’t be guaranteed to be accurate, particularly when there is high volume and quick movements in the spread
The Buy/Sell indicator on this site, and many others offering a similar service, is just running a simple algorithm to compare each trade price to the mid point of the reported spread at the time of the trade. It's just a guess/indication that works some of the time but by its nature is of limited use.
Also important to note that none of the trades marked by LSE as “unknown” are included in any totals reported here (most trades that are delayed/late reported, or if the trade price is bang in the middle of the spread so that the LSE algo can’t ‘guess’ whether a ‘buy’ or ‘sell’, and some other trades, are all marked as “unknown”).
