They want a meter that works, which is what they are getting. The comms part is what makes it smart, and they are getting that also, just not the offer CC have. Three of the first 5 million meter tenders have been issued, non will involve CC. The next might, but currently they have not adopted a CC type solution and indicators to me are they don't miss it. As they said, why build another system when there is a perfectly usable one in place, and is free.

Morning all, I don't get all the hype over non compliance. Let's assume JC knows what day it is, and has worked extensively in India in the recent past with some measured success according to Boris. It wasn't long ago that he assured all about India not being interested in trade standards and compliant levels, they wanted cheap, that was all. Every CC competitor had compliant standards attached to product, which gave CC the edge on cost. Fast forward 3 years and ,supposedly, India cannot move without having numbers attached. EESL are installing at pace, this is known. If product is compliant, is unknown, but it was all extensively tested to the benchmark and all passed with ease. This is a measuring meter, it's not a pacemaker, they were first introduced commercially in 1889 !! So, there is no real science behind a meter, the SI is the clever bit as we know. My thoughts are, if they work, India will keep going using the benchmark, not compliance Red tape. If that is incorrect, our Executive Chairman has made a monumental error of judgement.

All I will say is everything EESL are installing is IS 16444 compliant. They were testing about this time last year, and were having 'dry' runs for months on end.

today is the last day to announce those multiple, possibly very large I think were the words, orders JC threatened to land this quarter. We had one order, that they had to delay to soften the dismal final results for, and another free sample.

Meters have been procured, fitted and working since early January. Every aspect was well tested long before, and they are happy with the results as expected. Like the UK rollout ( which you cannot make money on ) it is progressing slower than the faceless would like, but they don't understand the process anyway.

I can only imagine the mileage that would be made out of this if it was CC not being able to fulfill orders as agreed...... Have you not heard the comments on this for the last 2 years? CC have not fulfilled orders over this time, which is why another placing looms near.

I'm losing count how many times you get this wrong Chianti : ) They are simply not implementing as fast as some would like, and we all know how mentally unrealistic the speed of roll out now is because those in positions sat on their hands for years. They are implementing contracts, they are not using CC higher tech AMI solutions, and the report you have highlighted shows further progress towards the huge programme in motion. It is also further proof, that CC solution isn't required in this instance.

Under the Uday Scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 10,000 old meters were replaced with smart meters in Panipat district under a pilot project. Now, the scheme would be implemented in other districts as well. The smart meters are GPS equipped. Installation of the smart meters along with its associated GPS system would enable electricity distribution companies to collect real time data on usage.
